The ninth governor of Ohio, Jeremiah Morrow, was born near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, in 1771, of Scotch-Irish ancestry. In 1794, he settled in the Northwest Territory, where he engaged in surveying, farming and teaching. A few years later he bought land in Deerfield Township, Warren County, where he built his home.
